Marked Improvement

So, last week was fairly heinous in that Hubby kept trying to steal my Mucous Queen title and cough up a lung. Honestly, I've never seen him so sick. I was really starting to worry and was going to demand he go see La Doctora today except that on Saturday he felt miraculously better. It worked out well, because Saturday we spent with my dad and Sunday we spent with his, so he was feeling good enough to out and even drive!

Saturday we hung out with Dad and Connie, ate burgers and bison hot dogs (mmmm... buffalo lips and anuses!) and watched Hannibal Rising and Déjà Vu. Hannibal Rising was surprisingly pretty and not as gory as I feared it might be (this is a good thing). Déjà Vu was interesting, but as with all time travel movies, there's only so much that can be done with the plot: something went wrong, let's go back in time to fix it, wait have we really changed what will happen, or just how it happens along the way? It was a good rental, not something I would have paid to see at the box office. Plus? It had a fat Val Kilmer... very disturbing... I prefer to think of Val from his Willow days. Stupid, sexy daikini! I also finally cast on for the Aran Pocket Shawl (from Folk Shawls). I'm using Cascade 220 in Straw, which is actually a lovely blend of a light creamcicle orange and wheat straw color with hints of light greens, no matter how crappy it actually looks in photos on Cascade's website.

Sunday we went to Hubby's parent's farm and hung out with the 'rents, his sister, and his grandfather. There was more grilling (burgers, dogs, and homemade venison brats) and just general hanging out and talking, which was nice and low key. I worked some on my second kneehigh sock (the Widdershins mod, the one I was working on while riding the train to Tarrytown) but stopped when I got to the heel flap. On the way home, we (me, Hubby, and his sister) stopped for ice cream, which was nice because dizam it was HOT.

Sunday night was low-key. I worked some on the shawl (one pattern repeat done; 26 more to go) and Hubby and I worked up A Plan of Action for kicking our house's ass into shape. Obviously we need to sell this house, but here's why Operation Stewart-Logan Freedom is moving up to high gear: We're buying Mama Lisa's townhouse. Got the paperwork and loan stuff all in place. It'll cost as much (with taxes and insurance) as renting our loft, and with my book money, our raises that we get in July, and a consolidation loan coming to an end in August, we'll have more than enough to make it happen. We're so excited!

Congrats again! I repeat my earlier comment about the hilarious irony of the selling to rent to end up buying again. ;)

However, it sounds awesome and we are super happy for you all, and naturally loan our moving services (again)!
