TGI [insert curse word of choice here] FLast night Hubby and I steam cleaned the entire downstairs... and the carpet is still less than pristine in the high-traffic areas. That's ok, we have other tricks up our sleeve for those areas, and at the very least we intend to pull up the carpet and redo the floors next year or the year after.
Hubby spent the afternoon there to let the cable guy in to hook up our internet and then he just stayed and worked. He said it was completely quiet. We slept there last night and it was very quiet. We didn't hear our next-door neighbors at all even though they and their dogs were home. (Look to be a lab mix and a basset-beagle mix, very well behaved, though I've only met them briefly.) Hubby was even able to enjoy the back
I love the townhouse, and we have Plans for it, though it will be a year or two before the big stuff goes into motion. This place is fantastic now and is going to be super-ginormously-awesome when we are done. Some of the ideas we are kicking around are:
1. New flooring, obviously: Bamboo (from a company we trust to be green) or cork.
2. New laundry appliances: One of those super-efficient European washer-dryer combos.
3. New kitchen cabinets and appliances: Ikea, Ikea, Ikea. And maybe one of those Norcool drawer fridges.
4. Remodel bathroom: It's sort of just brown-and-tan right now, so it could use some spiffing up. We have room (holy cow, lots of room in that bathroom, and a linen closet!) for a two-sink vanity, which would help us through our mornings faster. If only we could find one of those half-flush toilets like there were in NZ (you could chose to do a full or half flush depending on the... um... content).
And of course we have little things we want to do now: the electronic lock and thermostat, compact florescent bulbs, handheld showerhead. Stuff like that.
So, we are happy, excited, busy as hell, exhausted, and poor. Fun!
