Did I miss something?

Ok, there was the cartoon in the student paper that was explaining diversity on campus: Frat boys (one frat represented was called KKK - Kappa Kappa Kappa, of course!) were attending an auction where they could buy their token black guy. Ok, I get that slave auctions are BAD. And I may have missed something, but the cartoon read to me that frats in general are racist bastard organizations, and that true diversity within them is pretty much impossible, and they should be mocked for that. I don't think anyone was saying, "Woo, yay for slavery!" But there have now been several email circulating around campus about it, to include one from the Provost that begins, "I returned to campus yesterday after a week spent in Japan, and found a campus gripped by anguish." Anguish? Seriously? There is anguish over the fact that someone called out The Good Ole Boy system for what they are?

I must have missed SOMETHING. Someone, please, tell me what I missed!

Yeah, I got those emails and was wondering the same thing. God forbid that someone expresses concerns over the way things are run. He wasn't trying to be racist, he was trying to make a point. He did. He pointed out how idiotic our campus can be.

Man, I didn't get the one from the provost!

But then, I also didn't get the Kernel, so the only things I know I heard secondhand.

From what I've heard, though, it seems like everyone was way too quick to backpedal and apologize. Not to mention too quick to mandate sensitivity training. It sounds more like people need some training in interpreting political cartoons.

Amen, sister.

OMG. Do the KA's still ride around campus on horseback bearing their gray confederate uniforms.
It's all a very subtle and may I add COWARDLY form of racism.
There are decent frats. I can think of a couple..but it's rare. I always have to laugh cause the most cocky, arrogant frats are just completely infiltrated with gay boys. They're just too stoopid to know it.
Don't get me started on sororities.
