Вы помнете?

So yesterday my sister was in town and we had a big nostalgiathon. After Hubby and I got off work we headed to Belle Notte for dinner (entirely too much food) and then she and I headed to Русский Стол (Russian Table). She spent a month this summer volunteering at an orphanage in Kostromo (pretty much being a summer camp counselor, but at an orphanage) and brought photos and stories to share. Dr. J was there, and he is exactly the same as he was when we were in school. Exactly. The three of us were the only ones who had ever been to Russia, so it was interesting to see what has changed over the years, and what has stayed the same. Actually, a lot has stayed the same, it's sort of scary, and the things that have changed are mostly the rise of the бизнесмен (businessman - western, capitalist, and largely exploitative; includes mafia) or "New Russian" culture. Moscow is now overrun with SUVs and has things like gridlock. Astonishing.

Anyway, all those Russian phrases were typed on my Mac using the international keyboard option, so I have no idea if anyone will see them displayed correctly, but there it is.

I see them, and I would have no clue what they meant if you hadn't translated ... So thanks!

(I just made raspberry buttercream frosting to die for!!!! And now, I'm gonna make ginger white chocolate!)
