Commedy of Errors

Monday I went to the doctor for one of those usual "check your BP, how's the new asthma meds working" kind of appointments. I was pretty excited because I got La Doctora to set me up with an acupuncturist in the office. I've been wanting to try acupuncture for years, just to see how it goes. I swear La Doctora said to come back tomorrow—Tuesday—at 3pm.

Tuesday I came back, and when I registered (you have to talk to someone in a window before you go back to the waiting room), the woman was surprised to hear there even was a second acupuncturist in the office (La Doctora is the first, but is booked until July). So, there was some confusion, but I was eventually cleared to go to the waiting room. Half an hour later... I'm told that they're very sorry, but my appointment is actually for Thursday. A-ha! But why couldn't they have figured that out at registration, since they are the keepers of the big lists of appointments? Doesn't it stand to reason that if someone comes to get registered and they aren't on the list for that day you should maybe check the rest of the week? But I digress.

Wednesday, I went back to the doctor's office. Yes, Wednesday, because all day Tuesday I was thinking it was already Wednesday. We all know I have problems with linear time. So, in my mind, it was Thursday. La, la, la, there I go to register again. This time I had a different woman, and she said that she was very sorry, but my appointment was tomorrow, on Thursday. I realized my mistake and was VERY embarrassed, but she was very nice about it and even wrote me a note for work, calling it a "scheduling mishap."

So, perhaps today, THURSDAY FOR REAL (I keep checking with people and looking at my cell phone), I will get my acupuncture on. I hope it'll be worth all the hassle.

P.S. And since Hubby and I have been taking the bus to work, this means we have needed to take the car instead, which means that we've paid $2.50 a day to park, which is very frustrating considering the whole two mortgages thing. *sigh*
