Now I Need a Margarita

I'm not making any official endorsements yet - I'm still dealing with the "Democrats want to fall in love with their candidates; Republicans want to fall in line behind theirs" (as Bill Clinton said during the last election). I'm having a hard time. My favorite has already dropped out, and it's hard not to be seduced by Sen. Obama's sexy, intelligent, charismatic, and optimistic speeches. But speechmaking itself does not a leader make. I'm still deciding. In the meanwhile, I did think this effort to reach out to Mexican Americans by Los Amigos de Obama was over-the-top adorable:

My on-the-fly translation:
To the candidate who is Barack Obama
(sings this race with his soul?)
(humbly born again without pretension?)
It started in the streets of chicago
working to lograr (?) a vision
to protect the working people
and traernos (bring?) everyone together
in this great nation

Long live Obama!
Families united, safe, and soon
with a healthcare plan
Long live Obama!
A candidate struggling (wrestling)
for our nation

It doesn't matter if you are from San Antonio
It doesn't matter if you are from Corpus Christi
from Dallas or El Valle
from Huston or El Paso
What matters is that we vote for Obama
Because his struggle is also our struggle
and today we have urgent need
for a change, let's all go united
with our great friend

Long live Obama!
Long live Obama!
Families united, safe, and soon
with a healthcare plan
Long live Obama!
A candidate struggling (wrestling)
for our nation

lograr = to get or obtain, also achieve

Yes, dear, I *do* own a good Spanish dictionary or five. "On the fly" = not looking anything up and relying on what I already know.
