I can't image why we're paying so much for gas. It must be that oil in short supply; a huge Middle Eastern supplier has been completely war-torn for the past several years. Except...
"Exxon reported net revenue of $10.9 billion in the first quarter of 2008 -- the most profitable first quarter ever for the company...."
—Andrew Leonard
Gee. It couldn't possibly be that our president has his lips so tightly wrapped around Big Oil's dick that he hasn't noticed the price-gouging, could it?

In happier news, Prius sales in the last month spanked Explorer sales even more than in the month before:
"Last month I reported that Toyota sold a record number of Priuses in the United States in March: 20,635, compared to a puny 10,969 Ford Explorers. In April, the pummeling continued. Another record high for Priuses: 21,757, compared to an even punier 7,356 Ford Explorers."
—Andrew Leonard
The Prius is not our salvation folks, it's a stepping stone. The killer is that we shouldn't be mired in the stepping-stone stage STILL, but as my resources are limited, I'll take what I can get.

As our president said about the gas prices, ""If there was a magic wand to wave, I'd be waving it, of course."

If the leader of the "free" world doesn't have a magic wand, then we are verily fucked.
