What's that peeking out of the bushes?

Could it be Fall? C'mon little guy, don't be afraid, come on out here! Who's a good Fall? Yes, you are!

This weekend we slept with the skylight open but no fan or (noisy) air-conditioner. It were heavenly.

Sadly, I once again arrived at the end of the week without a toehold on chores. Surveying seven days' wreckage was depressing. Trying to get chores done over the weekend is difficult. I want to do them on Friday or Saturday so that Sunday can be spent lazy. Hubby is too exhausted from the week to do them on Friday or Saturday, and wants to spend Sunday lazy because it's his last day free before going back to hell work. I can't say that I blame him, but stuff's got to get done at some point. So Sunday at 9pm we make a grocery run, take out trash and recycling, unload and reload the dishwasher, and throw in a load of laundry. It's a good start for this week, and I'm going to try very hard to gain ground rather than lose it.

B had her bridal shower this weekend. I gotta say, showers are odd, even when thrown by cool people like T. Glad I didn't have one. But it was so good to see her, it's been forever. Maybe after the wedding things will settle enough that we can try to drag our sorry asses across town for each other. ;) The Lame Pirate also had a shower this weekend. Technically I think she had a bachelorette party? At any rate, she was dressed up (I saw photos!), paraded around, and pickled.

And lastly but not leastly (heh), Hubby and I hung out at K's with Ne and her cousin, SB, and J. We played "Goth" (subculture-specific Trivial Pursuit) and watched Hot Fuzz until the wee hours. For the record: K is much more schmancy than us: Matching glasses! Plates that coordinate with serving dishes! I thought I was doing well to have dinner plates that matched each other, much less my serving dishes, heh.

This weekend scores high on fun and seeing friends, low on productivity, and high on napping. Best weekend we've had in the past two months or so, I'd say.

(Re-reading this, I think my writing is oddly stilted... I think this is because I'm so tired. All that napping led to us being up 'til 4am this morning... gah....)

It was so very good to see you, too. The whole experience was great, and very much needed. After the wedding I hope EVERYthing is calmer...I feel like I'm losing my mind, some days!
