Can't. Stop. Myself.

So I've been watching this anime series today, Hell Girl. The basic premise is that if you are wronged you can visit a website (that only appears at midnight and is only visible to those seeking vengence) and summon Hell Girl, who will come and whisk your tormentor away to Hell. The catch, however, is that when you die you have to go to Hell, too, do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

And the point that all the characters are hung up on is you are damning someone to eternal Hell and not crap, if I do this I have to go to eternal Hell. It's really hurting my brain. There's a journalist who wants to stop Hell Girl, which I don't understand because she totally gives everyone an out clause and it's all about free will. His daughter, who is of an indeterminable anime age (not old enough for high school, but acting much too old for how old she looks), thinks that Hell Girl is awesome for punishing bad guys to the point of declaring she'd call up Hell Girl in an instant if journalist-dad was killed. And yet he's unable to say to her, "I appreciate that you love me enough to want revenge on anyone who kills me, but I love you too much to think you'll be tortured for all eternity." Instead he just wails about how wrong she is, causing major father-daughter rift. (You know we're headed to her calling Hell Girl on pops if we continue down this road, right?)

And every episode has Hell Girl repeating her disclaimer: Remember you, too, will go to Hell, bitches! (Paraphrased.) Who thinks this is a good deal? Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Hell Girl even includes a sneak Hell peek for the potential client. And still people take her up on it! For twenty episodes now!
